Installing the Windsurf Editor

Get started with Windsurf, an AI-powered IDE for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Download & Install:

  1. 1. Go to windsurf.com.
  2. 2. Click the "Download" button in the top-right.
    • • Look for direct download links or an option like "See all download options".
  3. 3. Select your platform (Windows, macOS, Linux) and download the installer.

macOS Users:

a. Open the downloaded .dmg file. b. Drag the Windsurf icon to your "Applications" folder. c. Launch Windsurf (e.g., from Launchpad or your Applications folder). d. If macOS shows a security warning on first launch, click "Open".

Windows & Linux Users:

a. Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

First Launch & Onboarding:

Windsurf will guide you through an initial setup:

  1. 1. Key Bindings: Choose your preferred keymap (e.g., "Default for VS Code").
  2. 2. Theme: Select an editor theme (e.g., "Solarized Dark").
  3. 3. Account: Create a new Windsurf account or log in (e.g., with Google). Authenticate to complete.

Now you're ready to start developing with Windsurf!
